Top Ten Albums

Here you will find a list of my top ten favourite albums. Now, let's be clear...if this was a true list, it would look something like you would find in the AC/DC catalogue...meaning the whole catologue. So I will refrain from putting any of the albums in this list with the understanding that anything from the AC/DC collection would trump any of these - even the Blow up your Video album. As side-note, I emailed Rolling Stone magazine some time ago giving their crap magazine shit for not naming Back in Black as one of the top 500 albums of all time. They've always been anti AC/DC. Back In Black is the fifth best selling album of all time. Has the best guitar lick in hard rock history from the title track, and has one of the great rock songs in You Shook me all night Long on it. It was the most ridiculous omission since...well...in the history of great omissions.

Anyway, back to the list.

These are in order to some extent...but it's sometimes very difficult.

  1. Ok Computer - Radiohead - From the first song to the last, this is the most complete non AC/DC album I have ever heard.
  2. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac - Their greatest. Stevie Nicks swaggers her way through Gold Dust Woman.
  3. Crash - Dave Matthews Band - This guy deserves alot of credit. He's simply an amazing musician.
  4. Parachutes - Coldplay - I could include any of the Colplay albums here. But there first was done in a no nonsense way. It was the beginning of greatness.
  5. Abbey Road - The Beatles - another great complete album. Controversy here in not including Revolver or Rubber Soul, but from front to back Abbey Road is near perfect.
  6. The White Album - The Beatles - Guitar on this album is the thing people overlook the most. Listen to the distortion on many of the songs. They rocked - they weren't a pop act anymore. Listen to Helter Skelter and Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey.
  7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones - Known as their best by many critics. I'm not really sure why I'm adding it. Maybe Sticky Fingers is a better album?
  8. British Steel - Judas Priest - Best metal album. Would hardly be considered metal today. Rob Halford had/has one of the best voices in music. He can hit any note.
  9. Nevermind - Nirvana - this wouldn't have been on my list a year ago. It deserves credit though. But starting to think Dave Grohl may have been genius of the band. In Utero album is also great
  10. Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd - This album was on Billboards top 100 albums for just under 25 years. It's like the 70's version of Ok Computer.

Honourable mentions - Blizzard of Oz - Ozzy Osbourne, Led Zeppelin IV - Led Zeppelin, Ride the Lightning - Metallica

Coming soon - Top Songs.
