Happy New Year

This is the view of New Years celebrations from last year in Sydney. This year, were the scaled down fireworks display of the Gold Coast. They did a great job with the fireworks, holding them every hour on the hour starting at 9pm. Each hour had a theme. At 9pm the theme was "Car Screeching out of a driveway; at 10pm it was "New Dragon Tattoo on your back"; at 11pm it was "Let's get drunk and get in a fight"; and at midnight it was "Happy New Year to everyone in the Trailer Park."

Ok, ok...so that wasn't true...but it could have been.

My New Years resolution is to quit this blog. In fact, I've fired the whole staff....but we all know how resolutions work - we make the same ones every year.

You shouldn't make fun of people from Trailer Parks they have just as must of a right to enjoy New Years Eve too.

It's like women who were tight jeans and white boots shouldn't be called trailer trash. We shouldn't draw these distinctions.

You didn't fire the staff. They revolted over the lack of pay, lack of comedy and the lack of quality control.

Kill it now and all you do is close it when it's down - you gain nothing.

Bring it back to it's former glory and then close it. Screw them over when they need the addictive hit the most.

Hi Gord,

I hope you had good New Year mine was fun. We had fun despite this guy coming up and kissing me several times in front of my man. I was trying to wash it off the next morning in the shower. YUK.

BTW I was right about the 3 weddings being followed by a funeral. It is bizarre I have to go to the funeral later this week.

Emma some of the comments are intended to be silly. I was also trying to make light of the fact that I attended three weddings in 3 three months (each one month apart) and now a funeral which will be one month from the last wedding.

Four months ago I mentioned to someone that I had 3 weddings to go to the joke was Three Weddings and a Funeral. Well it has happened someone died on New Years eve and I now have funeral to go to.

Anonymous. I think the issue is that no-one really gives a shit about your life and we are sick of hearing about it. We are also wondering why you are so arrogant to believe that we care about you.

I had mentioned to Gord that I was going to three weddings and we joked about there being a funeral. That is the issue I can assure you that there is no arrogance involved.

the diversity of comment on contemporary life as we know it will disappear, well from Bond. Diversity from Bond, like living in Canberra. And God Bless Tony Abbott, who better to rule over us!

At 9:47 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes alas and who better to comment about Tony Abbott than myself. Several years ago I saw Abbott and Julia Gillard in a debate about what made them better in the health portfolio. Well we know that Tony is on a moral crusade as according to people like Senator Nettle (The Green) he should get his rosaries of her ovaries.

Would be a terrible thing if it Abbott has a sayonce in the meditation room at parliment house and prayed for Senator Nettle whilst holding his rosaries over her ovaries. While it might seem like a prickly experience to some it would put the much under-utilised meditation room to good use.

Seriously, there is a private Gillard policy group in Canberra and members of this group can caucus with Julia in the parliamentary Gacuzzi. In the Gacuzzi issues like the role of the Catholic church in providing counselling services for abortions are discussed in great detail.

Don't misunderstand me either the rate of abortions is far too high in Australia. Just ask them at Gloria Jeans when you have your next coffee there they will tell you all about it. For those of you who don't know Gloria Jeans sponsored adds in the last election campaigns about the rate of abortions in Australia. I am also told that Gloria Jeans are part owned by the Hillsong group. I am not sure if this is true however, I am too tight to do a ASIC search so you will have to take my word for it unless you are prepared to spend the money on a search yourself.

While I am a person of faith who is concerned about the rate of abortions. I am also concerned for the potential of unqualified people receiving medicare
co-payments. It appears that Medicare co-payments will be issued to organisations rather than individual providers which is very concerning.

Given that Australia has taken a long time as a country to provide medicare provider numbers to physchologists this is a real concern.

Indeed the Australian government has even denied medicare numbers to our medical graduates.

Why allocate medicare numbers to any church be they Anglican, Catholic, Budist, Hillson, Bahi, Muslim, Jewish or any other religion order.

If Abbott ever studied constitutional law he would have failed as he doesn't understand the separation between church and state. Then again maybe he does know what he is doing and the government is just pandering to the politically inclined Hillsong group. Poor Peter he will never be Prime Minister at this rate.

There is no diversity at Bond. Those who are different are ostracised and made to feel unworthy until they leave. It's full of upper class snobs, that’s the way it is, accept it and move on.

Emma "This blog is no longer the entertaining, enlightening and informative source it once was. This blog is silly. I am glad I am banned. Please notify me in due course if the subject matter improves or you see the light".

Have you ever thought that people don't comment on your blog as they saw the light about you a long time ago. Maybe if you join Hillsong you might start receiving some comments.

Dear person who has to go to a funeral, please don't think my comment was in any way directed at you. My apologies if you got this impression! I was talking about Gordon's blog and the material on it, this time I was not passing comment on those who comment. I am sorry, sorry you have to go to a funeral, they are sad. Sorry

Emma your apology is accepted and I am sorry about my cranky reply. Your right funerals are sad occassions. I think about all the people who died on the roads this christmas and the anguish their families and loved ones must be experiencing. Fortunatley, in my case the death wasn't tragic rather it was a sad end to more than forty years of smoking cigarettes. Perhaps the saddest thing is that the person concerned has even felt the need to have the last word in her death so her spirit will never be at peace.

As my grandmother who passed away several years ago would sometimes say to me "funerals are not important it is how you treat people when they are alive that counts".

Hello Everyone,

I agree that we all need to return to our studies. Therefore,I have found a Press Release which is about the abduction of the Hawah children by their mum who is a Canadian national.

Firstly, I have to say that I disagree that the rule of law must prevail. Some might ask why I say this well the answer is that the rule of law in two countries namley Australia and Canada has given Mrs Hawah the primary custody of her children.

Seondly, Lebanon is not a signatory to the The Hague Convention to the Right of the Child.

The Shadow Attorney is correct in his assertion that Mrs Hawah may face criminal prosecution in Lebanon. While Mr Hawah could also certainly face prosecution in Australia and Canada. However, there are cultural reasons for why the government of Lebanon will not sign up to the Convention. Some countries will even give custody to parents who abuse their children and not suprisingly these countires refuse to sign the Convention.

Therefore the international rule of law will not apply. The only hope that Mrs Hawah has is to escape from Lebanon.

International Child Abduction - Rule Of Law Must Prevail

Kelvin Thomson

Media Statement - 2nd January 2007
What we need in the world is more international rule of law, and less of people taking the law into their own hands.

In the case of child abduction, the relevant law is The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. It was designed to ‘protect children internationally from the harmful effects of their wrongful removal or retention and to establish procedures to ensure their prompt return to the State of their habitual residence, as well as to secure protection for rights of access.’

Child abduction is immensely damaging to children, and no parent has the right to take the law into their own hands. For starters, a parent may have committed a criminal offence, and be at risk of prosecution.

The facts so far reported concerning the Hawach case indicate that the father has been charged and is at risk of prosecution in Canada, and the mother may be at risk of prosecution in Lebanon.

I will be raising the issue of the Australian Government’s role at the end of next week, in a briefing I have sought from the Attorney-General’s Department.

The Australian Government should urge Lebanon to sign the Hague Convention. I will seek information about what action the Government has taken on this matter, and about the status of the bilateral agreement with Lebanon to which the Attorney-General has referred.

In a Press Release on Friday the Attorney-General said he hoped to finalise arrangements “early in 2007”. Today he was quoted as saying he hoped to finalise the bilateral agreement “during the course of this year.” This is all pretty vague, and needs to be clarified.

Brendan you obviously miss being at university and hearing all the gossip. I have to admit it can be fun behaving like you are still in High School. It is just dreadful when you are confronted with the reality that you are a grown up.

Brendan we are still waiting to the sequal of the phantom pregnancy story.

At 10:37 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said...

The chick Brendan was describing sounded a bit like a Michelle Korby. Brendan you sell his story to the New Idea if it really was Korby. Skuller and I were commenting at the airport that Brendan's story sounded believable and we both think it is even more amazing that so many things could happen to one person.

If anyone is caught carrying dope in their boogy board this summer don't laugh. Remember that when you are overseas that it the rule of law in the country you are visiting which applies unless there is a prevailing international law.

Jesus Christ the commenting on this site has gone to shit. As to the person who stated that Bond was only ever full of snobs, fuck you mate, open your fuckin eyes.

What I am about to say could definitely be interpreted as snobby or arrogant but that’s just me, However there has been no greater adversary to following the stereotype or endorsing a monopoly of characters at Bond University and through my individualism I become greater then you all.

I see you are using one strength of anonymity, Keeping secret allows you to say the most fucking retarded and stupid things with out people sourcing them back to the sick sad piece of shit you are.

With that said though I realise I give you encouragement to continue as you realise that I have wasted time from my important life to give you the recognition and attention that you starve for.

The Skuller still has it ppl, be aware

Skuller I agree with you that it is sick to suggest that everyone at Bond is an upper class snob. There is diversity too. As someone who has been to one of the Sandstone Seven unviersities I can say that there are spoilt brats everywhere wherever you go even in the real world.
